Advice on Uncharted

Senior member
I just picked up a PS3 on a Black Friday sale...
Playing last of us and the new Batman... LOVING it.

My friend told me about Uncharted. WOW watching the videos.
Here are my issues.
1. Should I get/start with Uncharted one?
2. Should I start with 2?
a. If I start with 2, should I go GOTY edition? I dont see any perks excpet for Multiplayer.
3. Or just jumpp right into 3.

I starterd with one in Mass Effect... Enjoyed it fully. Went the original Gears of War. Didnt grab me. Yet could not put 3 down.

SO I am perplexed.

Well, you "can" skip 1, but it is still worth it. One had some control issues that were cleaned up in the later sequels. Three had its moments, but it is really just more of the same (don't expect more mind-blowing type things in gameplay, tactics, etc.). But it really is one of the best series on the system.

Not ALWAYS a DUHHH to the poster above. Some series episode one sucked... And they made improvments.
Other series episode X sucked (Hear HORRID things about Raccon City)

Hey, not to sound totally stupid and get another "DUH". :awe:
What's one's title?

Uncharted 2 is avail in both New and Used. OK get that.
There is an Uncharted Drakes Fortune.... NO NEW. OK If its 4 or 5 years old that could mean its is episode one.
But Drakes Fortune used is more $ than the 2 used.
Is Drakes Fortune episode one and the price diff is just a statement that htere are MORE cused copies of 2 around?

Did you complete The Last of Us? That should be your priority. One of the best games this entire generation.

I found Uncharted 1 by far the weakest of the series.

It's not a bad game at all, but can get seriously repetitive. The gameplay was nearly ground breaking for 2007, but it gets old fast.

I'd almost recommend just watching the cinematics on Youtube just to catch up with the story and characters.

i played the demo for UC1 and didn't like it too much. picked up UC2 and it was one of the best and most memorable games i've played to date. UC3 was equally amazing...loved every bit of it too.

What exactly are you asking here?

Man, how old is the op? You can barely spell and write in coherent sentences.

This question was one I had recently. Got a PS3 for first time a couple weeks ago just to play last of us, then decided to try Uncharted. I researched briefly and felt it was okay to skip the first, so I've started with the second. I have to say at least in the first two hours, compared to last of us, it is absolute garbage. I really came very, very close to quitting in an early mission when I had to sneak past guards and I could not believe (still can't) how pathetic their ability to detect me was. No peripheral vision at all, all clearly deaf as well.

That said, I'm going to stick with it anyway once I get Xcom finished. Most people liked Uncharted 2 and 3 enough that it's probably still worth a stab.

If you have a large HD uncharted 3 is free with PSN.

Yup part one is definitely the worst of the bunch but it's not a bad game, gameplay isn't great but story is awesome. Definitely play through it then play two which is the best of the three.

Thanks for your help genius.
Seems most people got the gist of what I was asking.
So why don't you take your small little mind and equally small ego, that you need to boost by putting down others with your superior intellect and go back to your world.
I'm sure it's just great there.

Okay zip tie?

I keep hearing one was wonky with controls. I've also heard two was the best a few times. That leads me to think start with one.

That is what I got.

I'm playing through the Uncharted series and I purchased this as well. I finished the first and I am about halfway done with 2, I picked up 3 at target for cheap.

I am a PC guy, and it was only because of The Last Of Us I even decided to play any shooting games on console. I hate the controls and I'm still pretty bad at aiming and moving with my thumbs, but the gameplay and story is really good.

Play all three 🙂 That's what I did when I got my PS3 (was one of the few reasons I got it).

I'm a PC gamer and really enjoyed the whole story and setup of Uncharted (I love Tomb Raider too - this helped). All 3 Uncharted games (especially the second) surpass all the older TR games in everything. Just the last TR game is on equal footing (or even better - I thorouhly enjoyed it).

Controls are fine, for the most part (first game being the weakest here - but still perfectly manageable). Though I play all my games with a gamepad on PC (whenever possible), so I'm kinda used to it.

EDIT: No need for GOTY editions. There are no SP DLCs anyway.

I played the first Uncharted game and found it rather dull and repetitive. Within an hour you've seen all it has to offer.

Same for The Last of Us.

Pretty much everybody says the last of us starts slow so if you stopped after an hour you're wrong about it.

I thought the new Tomb Raider was pretty darn good but still far behind the Uncharted games.

The stories are very different, but each works out great for what it's supposed to do. Uncharted is mostly an adventure - Drake actively pursued such life (he is looking for trouble, so to speak). Tomb Raider is a survival - Lara didn't ask for any of it (she's trying to get away from it).

I think in the end, I enjoyed Tomb Raider more. Though it could be because I played all three Uncharted games one after another - by the end of Uncharted 3 I just played to see how it will all end, hoping each next part would be the last 😛 I did enjoy Uncharted 2 a lot, the most from all three.

LOL sounds like me with the Mass Effect Series. Bought 1 and 2 used when 3 came out. Played all 3 back to back to back. Halfway thru 3 I was hoping evey mission was the last.
I really LIKE your spike out difference between the new TR and Uncharted.
TR is sitting in STEAM so uncompleted. I think I made an emotional (Historical) purchase. :whiste:
