So this is my first build in a long time. System will be used ~50% gaming, ~50% random tasks including video and audio editing. I'll be doing some overclocking and probably some case modding in the future. Here's what I'm looking at:

Processor: Core 2 E6400http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115004
Memory: Corsair XMS PC2-6400 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v
Mobo: ASUS P5B-E
Graphics: PNY NVIDIA 8800 GTS
HHD: 2 x Segate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB (Raid 0)
Random optical drive(s), keyboard, mouse
Power: Corsair HX520W Modular
Case: Lian Li PC-7A plus II (silver)

I've been researching for awhile and am ready to pull the trigger tomorrow, but wanted to check to see if there are any glaring problems w/ my component choices. I am especially concerned w/ memory choice, as I haven't done any real overclocking before and memory is very expensive right now. There were several alternatives I looked at, including a 5-5-5 PC2-6400 Corsair memory for $20 less that only needed 1.9v (as opposed to the 2.1 for the above) and a PNY memory kit that was part of a newegg combo w/ one of the above components.

I'm going w/ no sound card for the time being, but may want to add one in the future if I'm dissatisfied w/ the onboard, or possibly a TV tuner.

This is the first time I've had the money to build myself something nice rather than scavenging and upgrading on the cheap. I'd like it to go smoothly and welcome all advice. Thanks.

Really nice set up - very few suggestions. Raid is not worth the trouble IMHO (In my humble opinion). Great choice on the power supply, the hard drives and the motherboard. C2D is the way to go.

Good luck on your build. You got PM.

Buy what you need now and get the rest after Xmas. Prices should be more realistic by then.
