I am looking to build a whole new system, probably going to wait until ivy bridge comes out..but in meantime trying to price everything out and maybe pick up new LCD in meantime.

I currently own a Samsung 206BW and a gtx260

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001095

native resolution is 1680x1050

When I was putting everything together someone mentioned to me why get a high end video card if max resolution is 1680x1050. Now my monitor works perfectly, no issues and it is a 16:10

I was thinking of upgrading to getting a native resolution of 1920x1080

There are so many choices out there I am lost. I also don't know which size screen has the best pixel pitch I guess you call it for 1920x1080?

I want it that I can see the text clearly without squinting but also not to look too big.

Is 24 / 25 or 27 inch the best for a 1920x1080? Also I was looking to spend not more then $300 for a new LCD.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Look for a 23-24" display in that res (1080). Most displays larger than this go to higher resolutions.

Unless you want to stick with 16x10, then there are several 1920x1200 24" displays out there.

16:9 is better for gaming because it will give you the largest FOV (field of view). When people choose 16:10 is basically for non-gaming reasons. i.e. Having 10% more vertical pixels can be very helpful for viewing documents, web pages, etc.

If you game, 120hz monitor for sure.... I use a Viewsonic vx2268wm I bought not too long ago. Only $210. Native res is 1680x1050 which is about the max id ever want anyways. If you have a decently fast computer and do game on a regular basis, 120hz.

Well right now my current monitor is 60hz so i wonder if I will see a major difference?

I am 95% sold on getting that Asus 25 inch, but if you know of any that have 120 hz and in that price range with 1920x01080 resolution maybe that is an option.

I have a feeling they will be a lot more money and not sure if worth it.

Its a decent enough difference. Double the refresh rate... Ultimately its up to the individual to decide how much its worth. Personally, I dont know how people enjoy gaming at 60hz...

And you wont find a 1920x1080 120hz monitor below $300 so.... The viewsonic vx2268wm is only $210 but also 1680x1050. I dont play at resolutions above 1680x1050 anyways.

Just sayin. My vote would be for a 120hz monitor. 60hz monitors are significantly cheaper though.
