having finally managed to get hold of some money I have been waiting for for a while I have set about designing my own custom pc. budget is around 900 GBP. so far this is what I have come up with.

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case 59.99

Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLi nForce 650 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard 69.99

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.67GHz (1066FSB) 199.99

Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) 49.99

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 117.49

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM 293.99

Antec True Power 650W PSU 79.89

Total: 890 GBP inclusive of VAT

I already have a razer mouse, logitech keyboard, seagate HD & LCD although considering upgrading to a larger LCD possibly!

Is that using the money well in terms of build or could I be doing better for the price. All the parts are sourced from www.overclockers.co.uk

Any input would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Lose the e6700, get a e6750 instead. Get a p35 based mobo, lose the overpriced ram, get ddr2 800mhz instead.

What site you getting this from ?

It's because the e6700's are discontinued, in fact, all e6x00's are. The e6x50's took over. The e6x50's have a higher FSB, performance increase is negligible over the older cpu's, but it's cheaper so it's good, no?

I suggest this mobo: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...t.php?prodid=MB-242-AS Unless your HUNG up on ddr3 you might want to purchase later on, the go for the p5k for 84.99 pounds. Ram should be like these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...id=701&catid=8&subcat= or close to it in price. 5-5-5-12 or 4-4-4-12 doesn't really matter. Lifetime warranty sounds good to me.

I'd rather get this PSU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...=701&catid=123&subcat= then the one you mentioned. If you wanna save money, the antec earthwatts 500w is a good deal too. I'd go with the 520hx though, since it's modular.

If you want a silent system, but still with pretty good cooling, then I'd pick this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...t.php?prodid=CA-070-AN over the antec 900. The antec 900 will cool slightly better though, but with so many holes in it it's not gonna be to quiet :p
