Crucial has the 15% webpromo deal and free shipping, not to mention they just dropped the web price from 49.99 to 44.99 for a 256DDR Meg stick... Not to mention that I am saving 10 bucks on shipping.

Heres the deal, I will not be building my DDR based system for about 2 months. Do I buy the ram now, or wait? I am afraid the price of ram is gonna rise again.... and I will kill myself for not ordering... but if I do order and it drops even more dirt cheap, I will still kill myself..... So.... I would like some opinions. Even LXi's opinion.

Is it safe to assume this is about the best deal I can get within the next 3-4 months?

Wait, the prices are only going to drop more. Who knows, in two months, you might be able to get a 512 meg stick for $50

you can get a 512 stick for 50 bucks, as long as you are willing to go with generic high density from some random dealer on pricewatch. sounds like a plan to me. :D

Thanks for all your input guys, I think I will wait then, who knows maybe we will move to PC2700 by then. 333Mhz Bus with the Athlon! that would be so cool.

well prices keep on dropping and dropping now that they actually throw memory at your face now (wait till you go to shell and they advertise with every gallon of fuel bought a free 32meg stickie memory :D)
(most manufacturers now have an awfull amount of 32 and 64 meg sticks they can get rid of -who buys a 64meg stick these days anyway- so I wouldnt be surprised if we should see actions like that (just not in a shell but you get the idea ..)

Keep an eye on the price. I heard from others that price is so low because of supply is greater than demand. So if the prices start going up, then buy at the time.

Even if prices go lower, I don't see them lowering by more than $10 (the price for shipping for crucial after free shipping ends) for a 256 mb stick. less than 1% of all users "need" more than 256 mb.
