Advice on His HD 4670 IceQ turbo looking to buy

The HIS 4670 IceQ specs list PCI express 2.0 x16 compatibility. My board is the Asrock 939 dual sata II which is compatible with Pci express 1.0a x16. The 2.0 card is probably backwards compatible but my question is will my framerates on games be a lot less using 1.0 ? My current card is a Sapphire Radeon x850xt.

The card is backwards compatible, and it is not bandwidth limited by a PCIe 1.0 slot. Nothing to worry about.

second thought. I have an AMD x2 3800+ cpu. Will I be limited by the cpu and only see minor gains with the radeon4670 over the radeon x850xt?

you'll see quite a large gain with the 4670 over thex850xt. you might be a little bit limited by your cpu, but not much.

I am running the Gainward Radeon HD 4850 with a Asrock 939 Dual Sata2 and I don't think it's being limited by the lack of PCIE 2.0 support!

You should see some very good gains over the x850xt with a 4670.

Smaller physical card which uses less power than the 9600gso.

Yeah the 4670 uses less power, doesn't require a 6-pin PCIe connector and runs cooler. It would be my midrange card of choice for sure.

We are talking about measly 11 watts more on load. GSO cost cheaper and equally perform if not better. Easily overclockable to 8800gt levels.

Unless the OP is using cheap 300 watt power supply or just using it as a HTPC I don't see the point of 4670 that cost more.

Can a 4670 pull 33fps in Crysis Warhead gamer settings? I'm pretty sure it can't even pull 25fps. that's the difference between playability and not playable.
