advice on filtering out webpage ads?

Iv'e used Adfilter, now called Filtergate (filtergate.com). This seems to interact with my preferred browser, Opera 5, stalling the downloading of webpages, so that the filtered page takes longer than the page with ads.

Can anyone reccomend any alternatives to try? Thanks!

Why can't you just live with the ads? I mean, here websites are offering you free information, and you can't even have their ad displayed? I can see how this could be a good pr0n filter for WAREZ websites, but other than that..

The best way for you to filter out web ads is to turn off your computer and go buy a magazine.

Paying for information?

What a concept!
