I am looking into purchasing a better rack for my lifting and would like some advice.

I currently have a squat stand (This one) which has worked alright, but I am looking into upgrading into something a little safer since I am working out alone a little more than I did when I was training.

The biggest challenge is simply space. I have my equipment in the storage room. The height from the floor to the ceiling is 88 inches. If that was not bad enough, part of where the highest part of the rack would likely be has a duct that brings the height at that spot to about 80 inches. Also, the distance from the wall to the start of the storage shelf behind me is 82 inches.

The only thing that seems like it might fit and work is a walk in squat rack. Something like this.

Is this even worth it? It also looks like I might not be able to really get a low squat on it, and it sure does not look adjustable for that...

Will anything actually work? Does space force me to keep my equipment as it is?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You won't have to worry about a pull up bar as part of the cage. Many come with one but will be useless at 88" in ceiling height.

What is your budget?

One of the favorites for the lower cost models at the bodybuilding.com forums is the Powertec WB-PR11 for $550 or so. You can find it for under $500 if you look around a bit though.

FWIW: I just got the powertec and started wrenching it together. The pull up bar can be installed upside down (see the pic of the rack). When upside down, I have plenty of head clearance on an 85" ceiling when doing pull ups.
