i just got the HL2 collectors edition (as a gift), and found out it was dvd-rom, which i dont have. so i guess im on the market for a new dvd-drive...im looking for an rw, that doesnt neccessarily need to be top speed (which is 16x i believe?).....can you guys suggest me some drives that are like "moderate", reliable, convenient quality - i dont want something top of the line, after all, im just buying it so i can play hl2

so can you guys reply with the brand, speed, and price
thanks so much

btw, my price range is 0-70$ any good deals out there?

The Toshiba 16x SDM1912 DVD-ROM drive is only $22 bucks, is very quiet, and has the fastest random seek time I have ever seen in a DVD-ROM drive. In other words, you'll already be using your DVD while other drives are still getting started.

As far as I know, it's also the only regular DVD-ROM drive to reliably read DVD+R DL discs if you ever get around to using them down the road.

Oops... I thought you were looking for a DVD-ROM, not burner (my bad)... yeah, the NEC is pretty good!
