Hi Im selling my car, found a buyer already

Im driving the car to a dmv near his residence (about 40 min drive), however the car's registration is expired (no sense to pay it when Im not driving it).

So Im afraid that I might get pulled over by a police officer... if I do get pulled over, can I just say that I am selling this car? (I will bring the necessary papers with me to the DMV anyways)

Or maybe just take the license plate off completely?? I see some cars that dont have license plates (ie if someone buys a used car from a dealer)

TIA

some states have temporary tags for situations like this, check your DMV web page for your state

Aren't cars supposed to be registered, whether or not you're driving them? Or do I just not know what I'm talking about?

BTW, I think the [ ' ] key on your keyboard is broken.

Do you have another car you could drive to the DMV? If he gets a tag right after you transfer the title you could just give him a ride back to the car and put the new plate on.

I'll say the latter 😉

Well, if he wants the car, he'll have to make time unless he wants to pay for the ticket.
