I want to upgrade a machine to do a ton of home video editing / DVD burning over the next year. I want to keep my current ATI 8500 pro but I was hoping for mobo/cpu/memory recommendations, in particular whether I should go intel or stay with AMD. I'm hoping to stay below $300 for the three. The lags and slow downs with Studio 8 on a AMD 1700, K7S5A/Crucial 2100 - 512 mb are driving me nuts. Thanks in advance for the help.

You might get better help posting this in the General Hardware forum.

You could start by getting one of those cheap fry combos. You could get in around 50ish if the timing is right.

Here would be my first guess for ya. Get this and add another 512 of ram along with it or if you can stomach it kick in somemore cash and get a higher proc. You can run ur Hdd's off the SATA and ur Burners off of the IDE cables. Just an idea. I am having a prob as well but mine is that i have run out of IDE cables in my current system so i now need a new Mobo with Sata what a biznitch.
