Hi All -

I need to share my incoming internet cable connection between (6) hardwired outlets while maintaining wireless availability in my home. I currently have a Linksys WRT54GL (running DD-WRT) hooked up (directly from the cable modem) and running however this provides only (4) wired connections in addition to the wireless access. I just purchased a Linksys EZXS16W 16 point switch with the understanding that it will provide what I need to complete this network.

That said - What is the appropriate way to hook this up? Currently, my wired connections go to my Main PC and the rest are generally to DirecTV and /or Blu Ray Players. The wireless is used for my wifes laptop and my work laptop/iPhones, etc...

Your advice/help is greatly appreciated!

Scott

Bonus Question - We have another WRT54GL sitting around - can we hook it up somewhere in this chain to make our wireless signal stronger throughout the house?

Connect the uplink port on the 16port switch to any LAN port on the GL. That should do it :)

Thanks for the reply! I will give it a try tomorrow. Sounds like it should be a smooth process (famous last words - ha!)

Thanks Again -

ch33z hit the nail on the head for the switch... as for the bonus question, run a cable somewhere some distance from the other wireless router, set the device to be a switch instead of a router and it then becomes a WAP.

Thanks for the help guys. Router and switch are up and running. I managed to clean up the smart box and wiring as well. I'll tackle the second router sometime tomorrow. I think I am going to place it in my family room to boost/even out the wireless signal and use the ports for our blu ray player and directv box...

Again, Thank you!
