Advice needed for connecting 2 PCs to the Internet

We only have one Cable modem and 2 computers withing the same room. For Internet access from each PC, would it be possible to network the two PCs and use a hub, as opposed to a router - or is it much better to utilize a router? Is there a better solution? Both PCs operate with XP.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

A router is a hub with built in routing functions and dhcp. Basically get a router, they aren't that expensive and you can share files the same way as a hub.
