I was all perfectly happy using my Samsung Captivate till a few folks daily at work keep using their Ipad and Nook Color daily.

I was going to buy a new video card to upgrade my PC but a friend call me and said HEY my Jeep needs some parts wanna buy my new Ipad for $300 with a case? He just got it in Jan 2011.

I really would like something bigger then my phone to use the Nook/Kindle App but something less heavy then my Mac Book 13". Plus we are not allowed to have laptops out on are desk at work but no one has said anything (yet) about E readers...

Now my friend is not sure he is selling his Ipad but now I am stuck on the idea of getting a Tablet PC of some sorts. Is the Xoom worth it or should I wait for LG or the Toshiba tablet to come out?

I know Android cannot play Netflix yet (no I will not pay for Playon monthly fee) Already hate the idea of paying $8 a month for netflix. Hell I won't even have cable if work did not give it to us free. Netflix is the one reason I was leaning towards Ipad but don't really like the locked down feeling of iOS.

Wait. Nothing worth the money right now except the Nook, and you'd have to root it to be useful.

I was debating getting the Nook Color but was afraid of poor browsing speeds and bad battery life when playing games on it. Plus not 100% if the CPU can keep up with what I wanna do on it. I keep reading how good the Xoom battery life is. Battery life is the #1 reason I got a Mac Book over Windows laptop.

Not the Xoom. Get the ASUS Eeepad Transformer, coming in a few weeks, same specs as the Xoom + IPS screen at $400 for the 16GB Wifi version. Or the Samsung Tabs 10.1 ($500) or Tab 8.9 ($470) if you can wait a couple months.

Sounds a little like you don't know what you want, the iPad gen 1 isn't a bad deal, and Netflix is great on an iPad. There's also TV.com and the ABC app

With the tablet market in flux, holding off is a decent option too...

ASUS Eeepad Transformer sounds like a better option. Ever since using my TV IPS panel I really dislike crappy TN panels! Plus the Xoom is over priced atm. I would be getting the WiFi only device either way because my phone will be my WiFi hotspot when not at work or home. Thanks for all the fast feedback.

The only tablets I'd consider getting this year are the HP Touchpad or the Nook Color. I really want the Touchpad to succeed, because webOS is an amazing operating system and it's perfectly suited for tablets.

Other than that, the Transformer and the Galaxy 8.9 & 10.1 look very nice as well.

The Asus Transformer so far looks to be pretty nice. It does make me wonder why not just wait and get a quad core Tegra netbook when they come out. Or a quad core Tegra transformer for that matter (assuming they will be available).

Well I had to go tease myself anyhow and go to the mall and check out the Xoom and ipad 2. The ipad was just like I thought blown up iphone. I use to have an iphone 3GS and like it until I got an Android phone. Only part I miss about the iphone was it seemed smoother.

Played a silly game on both Xoom and the ipad. The ipad Tron demo game crashed. The map program scrolling also was abit slow. Then I went to the Xoom and played with it for about 25 mins. I noticed it took wayy to long to scroll thru email. It seemed very choppy. Like running Windows Vista when it first came out on a super slow computer to the begin with.

So I guess this gen Tablets are not for me or HC is not polished enough yet for me to enjoy.

Just wait 2 months.
