Advice for my system ?

hi !

i plan to buy the following...if anyone has any input/recommendations on the config...let me know 😉

() Athlon TBird 1.4, NO XP....there is no point in getting an XP (imho)....and 'til there is nothing better than 1.4 Ghz i'll stick with a plain TBird 1.4

() MoBo KT266A chipset (not sure about the brand yet...not too many reviews out. I havent seen anyone mentioning KT266A boards with AGP pro for example. I do not need Raid, IR and unnecessary stuff on my board, but i'd like to have as many bios-features as possible, jumperless would be best.
Btw. where is ATA133 ???? They all have ATA 100...but it's ok 😉

() Inwin S500AU.300F case with sparkle 300W PSU. Hope it's enough for my TBird...

() Cardexpert Golden Sample GF 3, i think i get the best value with this one. I dont see the point in getting a Geforce Titanium 500 (too expensive etc...) and the golden sample seems quite overclockable....

() Maxtor D740X 40 Gig.
I first wanted a IBM, but after hearing of many problems with IBM deskstars i think i better go with a Maxtor !!!

() Audigy OEM soundcard

() Samsung 950p 19" monitor

() 256 Crucial Ram

I will probably not OC my system much (maybe not at all)...so i decided that i do NOT need the following:
Cas2 Ram or 2400 DDR ram.....i dont need it....would be wasted money as long as there are no newer CPUs around with higher FSB....

PSU/CASE with more than 300W....according to newegg and others 300W should be enough for a 1.4 TBird

greetings

take it from me get a sparkle 350watt PS..proven worker in many systems I have built...300 may be fine but I wouldn't take the chance and PS issues are difficult to diagnose.

Golden Sample is great choice...my gf2 pro overclocks like a madman...

HUh?????? The xp 1800 is 1.533ghz and is faster, but I would wait until I hear a few more reviews and better return on which kt266a mobos or the best and fully supportive of the xps features

Unfortunately it seems Inwin no longer uses Power Man (Sparkle) power supplies in their cases. I just bought one of the Inwin S500 cases with a 300W power supply and found a Dynapower PS in it. I have never heard of Dynapower. Though internally it looks about as good as a Sparkle it has a very poor fan. Now, I would get the Inwin S500 with the 250W PS and get a separate Sparkle 350W.
