<< go ATI 7200 w/ 64MB SDRAM (I assume that means SDR SDRAM?) from canadacomputers for 132. >>

Wouldn't a regular Radeon DDR 32MB for $85 be a better deal? 😉
>>

bluemax can you tell me where they are selling the Radeon for $85

I'm just wondering how much those guys charge for shipping - I can't see how to order! 😕
Of course, I have other options.
Everything's still wide open. I just wish something was screaming out to me as "the perfect choice". 🙁

How's a GF2 TI for DVD playback?

i can't believe you guys. goto www.pricewatch.com and click on video cards (on the main screen). you will see a GF3ti200 for about $125. in your price range that or the Radeon 8500, if you trust Radeon drivers, would be the best you can do. That pretty much makes it simple unless you want something a little cheaper.

AND... if you are in Canada have you checked shipping prices? usually not too much for a video card. can be as much as $40 for Z560 speakers. 🙂

Hey, smartypants... www.pricewatch.com is American dollars for Anerican buyers. not even 1% of those retailers will even send to Canada and they'll charge a fortune to do so as well.
Thanks for the "tip". 😉

I vote for the Radeon 32MB DDR or a Radeon 7500 if you can get this within your price range. If you can find a Radeon 8500 for that price, it would be a much better solution but with a budget of roughly 100 american dollars, that is not likely.

I would choose the Radeon 32MB DDR over the 7500 64MB SDR, unless you can get a 7500 64MB DDR in you price range.

bluemax,

Bite the bullet and go for Radeon 7500 DDR (Retail). I just picked one up at Staples for $229.95 before taxes. It replaces my Voodoo 2 3000 16MB AGP. So far so good. I am not a gamer, and it is very sharp in 2D.

Running under WinXP Pro Corp

Go for it

You can get it cheaper at NCIX, but I wanted it quick.

<< Umm and to the people who compared the radeon to GF 2 MX 200............................Yeah you can't read! >>

That was me - from personal experience. A Radeon VE using SDram is just plain sloooooow.
