Advert.dll

Does anybody know what advert.dll does as when I start IE5 it comes up with an invalid operation error and closes IE5 down.

I removed it from c:\windows\system and IE5 now works fine!

Does anybody have any ideas?


PS I think that it must be part of gozilla as that has stopped working and also contains an advert.dll file.

perhaps advert = advertisement?

i've seen a .dll very similar to that used for aol instant messenger ads.

Could also be spyware installed by a program to track your surfing habits

I have definely confirmed that its a GoZilla 3.5 problem.


Without advert.dll in windows\system then IE works but Golzilla doesn't. With advert.dll then Gozilla works but IE5 doesn't. Yet I know they have both worked together before!

Go figure

PS Thanks casimec, that link had very very interesting information and I have followed the information supplied there and hopefully I will be OK from now on.
