Adventures in hotelling.

Seeing as I travel a lot for my job I stay in a wide variety of hotels and I'm wondering what interesting stories have you to tell.

I can't say anything too exciting has happened to me.
A couple of years ago I was staying in a hotel in Cleveland, OH and I go to take a shower, turn on the water and the spout goes flying across the tub at high speed. Never stayed there again. 😛

Last night, a CSM in the company I work for was at a hotel room and couldn't get the internet to work apparently noone was able to connect. This guy has saved me a lot of travel and headaches so I'll bend over backwards to help him. Walked through the usual stuff and finally found out he could ping their router just fine. So just for laughs I had him try to log into the router. It was a consumer router with the default admin password. Looked up it's manual on the website and walked him through a few things. Finally renewing the dhcp lease on the wan side fixed the hotel's problem and he was able to get on. I told him NOT to tell the clerk this for obvious reasons. 😛

Today I was trying to find a hotel for a reasonable price in the area of customer's site. I call up the number in the Entertainment book thinking they'll give me a good price. $10 more than the AAA price. So I tell him this and tell him the AAA price is more than my stipend. So he finds a managers special of $69.95 a night. Interesting that I had to go through all that to get it but considering I'm staying 3 miles away instead of fighting my way through over 20 miles of Boston traffic I'm not complaining.

So what are your stories? 😛

I work with someone who returned to his hotel to find it filled with cops and EMS... only to find out that the guy in the room next to him shot and killed himself. He said over the next few days they had some "cleaners" taking care of it...

Discovering that walls are REALLY thin in the hotel you are at is fun.

Finding this out by means of an energetic couple in the next room after you have been on planes, in airports, and cars for 24 hours is slightly less fun.

After a party with the crew i did the maid in the corridor.

Stupid thing to do, mr wang was not happy and had to go to the doctor. 🙁

The hotel cleaners are the ones who will have to deal with the mess after the coroners are done and the body is gone.

If you are going to kill yourself DON'T do it in a hotel room.

I stayed in Philadelphia's Four Seasons hotel Sunday night. Had an Executive Suite. Damn nice place. No real complaints besides the price. Mmmmm $6.50 bottled water.

Actually, Dave Atell followed a guy who did "organic" cleanings for hotels. His sole job was to fix rooms that were messied by a body :Q

Anyone ever had free broadband access in your hotel room? I got one during a stay in Guangzhou (China), but the connection was pretty flaky (frequent DNS timeouts) but still it's a first (and so far the only one) for me.

Screwed someone from behind up against the window of the hotel. Boobage and everything was pressed against the window. This was it was day times and people were swimming down below

Surprisingly enough, I went to Leamington Ontario (small small town). They had free wireless/broadband in the rooms. I was very surprised...thats the extent of my story.

Spring break 99
For a couple nights, 10 of us shared a hotel room booked for 2 people in Rosarito, Mexico. 2 of us had hotel entry wrist bands, and 8 of us without wrist bands had to sneak in to the hotel after partying. A couple guys and I climbed over the barbed wired perimeter. Some people couldn't figure out how to get back in, so they spent the night on the beach.

Spain 02
Trashed a hotel room in Granada in a drunken rage after losing 40 euros in a bar. I never got billed for the damage.

ROFL......oh man, that does not sound fun.

I was about 14. Family was going snowmobiling up in Potter County PA, and we stayed at a very cheap mom & pop style hotel.

Room layout:
| Dad & stepmon | Me & bro (11) | other |

So, the couple in the other room starts going at it ... we're talking some seriously hardcore aerobic headboard banging, and the walls are paper thin.
So the next morning, we head out, and my dad is talking to some couple unloading their sleds. And he asked me what the he|| my brother & I were doing last night to make so much noise. So I tell him it was the room next to us banging on the wall. Of course, the room next to us belonged to the couple my dad was talking to. The woman turned beet red and ran up and got in the truck, and the guy just got this big sh|t eating grin on his face. Took my dad about 2 minutes to make the connection

Sorry about that... I told her to keep quiet.

Next time just give her something to do with her mouth.😀

I expect free broadband access at any business-oriented hotel nowadays.
