Does the "Hardware Acceleration" setting on the "Performance" tab of System Properties have an effect on only 2D acceleration, or both 2D and 3D?

When I had it turned all the way down, I could notice a HUGE slow down in 2D. Scrolling through a web page was a "blinky blinky" stuttering experience. I'm just wondering if that setting affects 3D performance as well?

Both 2d and 3d. It controls the level of Direct3d acceleration.

Unless you have a really old videocard, it should be able to handle the max. setting without any problems. This is similar to the Windows ME's "Sound acceleration" under multimedia properties..
