Adul,

I'm going to Thailand in April and would love to hear from someone who just got back. How did you like it?

What did you pay for airfare? What airline and how long was your flight?

This is more of a question for an e-mail or PM, not a thread...

Yes I was asleep. If you are going in April, has you mentioned, I think that is about the time the start of the hot season. Has for Airlines, I recommend Thai airways. I think I can get tickets for are 600 bucks roundtrip flying out of LAX. Thai Airways has very good service, and the flight attendants are cool.

How long to you plan on going? Do you plan to go any where? Need suggestions? I suggest visiting Chang Mai, Koh Phuket, and Koh Samui. Hotels are fairly inexpensive and you can stay in some real nice places. The only hotels I have been in are the ones in Chang Mai and Koh Samui (Koh means island). Actually, I did not stay in a hotel on Samui. We rented a couple of bungalows right on the beach :). Also, north of Koh Samui, ( can't remember the names of the Islands ) you can do some diving. I hear it is very nice place to do it has well.

Jewelry is also very inexpensive and very good quality. If you want the best prices on jewelry, go to Change Mai for that. What else to suggest... Oh, do not drink the water unless you want the runs like there is not tomorrow. ;) Drink bottle water, or water that has been boiled. Ice is generally ok has it is filter and bagged. Food is awesome, especially if you like it hot. Lots of great tropical fruits to try. And please do try the coconut ice cream. Simply the best stuff I have had.

If you have any question feel free to ask. Yes I do love it there, I have been there 3 times in a little over a years time. It helps that I have family there so I get to see the more interesting parts of Thailand. My wife is also still there has well. :(

One more thing, they have squatters for toilets in some places. Interesting indeed, especially if you are a big person. Oh and look out for low overhangs, I can't te'' you how many times I either hit my head or came close to doing it. (i am a little over 5'11")

I've come to the conclusion that Adul is a vampire with a gene that makes him UV tolerant. He seems to be posting here 24.5 hours per day. I'm guessing he works 8 - 10 hours per day yet he is posting at 6AM pacific time (or is it 7AM because of the funky daylight savings time?) which is the buttcrack of dawn basically.

Oh, The thai culture is very friendly in general. To greet someone and to say good bye you say Saw-wa-dee-ka you hand brought up to your face in a pray formation. You do not need to bow.

The sooner you get them the better. Where are you flying out from?

The flight is quite long and varies a couple of hour depending of route choosen.

From LAX to Tokoyo is was 10.5 hours last time. And from tokoyo to Bangkok it is another 5 hours. There is a 1 hour layover.

Sometimes the flights are longer going there has well. 12.5 hours from LAX to Osaka.

Osaka to Bangkok 6.5 hours. ( dunno why it took longer then )

Flight time on the way back are shorter overall by 2.5 hours or so. Did you get your passport yet?

No, I haven't got my passport yet. Any advice?

I'll be flying out of Houston (IAH). You know a good place to buy tickets?

What's the best way to pass the time on the plane? The longest flight I've been on so far has been about 4 hours.

best way tp ass time. Well if you like reading it helps. Game is nice, chatting with others, walking around the plane to stretch out. Anything you can think off. You better get you passport now. That is the first thing you will need before you even get the ticket.

passport services department

You will have to pay fees to get a passport.

passport Fee's

You will have to apply in person has well

Obtain passport

It take about 6 weeks to get your passport. You can speed up process if you need to. They are service which can get you your passport in 24 hours. ($$$)

Also you will need to pay the individual fee's seperately. So i suggest you keep you check book handy. Make a check list to be sure you have everything you need.
