ADSL Router

As the subject says...
Is it really possible to share one internet connection to a few computers even though I was told by the ISP that I've to pay extra for every computer connected. Btw, only one IP address is assigned to me.

well anyway, I got another cheaper solution, even though there's going to be more hassle doing it...
How if I do the ICS in Win98SE, buy 2 NIC cards, put one at the modem-connected computer and put another one into target computer...is it going to be a good idea? Also I heard it'll slow down your computer (the one that has 2 NIC cards as now, it's receiving and sending data at almost the same time)??

Thanks a lot in advance.

It would be much simpler if you just went the router route. If you use the second method, you'll always have to have that first 'server' computer on to allow net access for the second computer. The SMC Barricade router is a heavily recommended router along with that Linksys one... the Barricade is $100 and has a printer server, the Linksys is around $150, think there's a rebate going on for it too. Both are great routers... I'd just pay the money and go with the router...

I'll second that one.
I had the ICS setup for about 6 months until I broke down and got a Netgear router and I couldnt be happier with that decision. You won't have to have that second computer on all the time as well as I noticed a speed increase for online gaming. Go for the router.

As long as you don't have an internal modem or one of those crappy USB modem/routers-then the router to share the connection is the way-to-go...

If you want to use ICS and 2 NICs instead, then do a search using these keywords "internet" - "sharing" - "ICS"

You will get plenty of info...

Here is an EXCELLENT site to learn about the routers and ICS-- practicallynetworked.com
