ADSL, IDSL, SDSL?? What are diffrences?

all i THINK i know is taht sdsl is syncronous dsl, adsl is asyncronous dsl, but IDSL?? any one know what all this mean and the advatages? i'm guessing that with asyncronous dsl you can have higher download rate and lower upload for better home use. and with syncronous the speeds upload/download speeds are the same. please correct me if i am wrong. if anyone has any idea what idsl is please do tell i'd like to know.

IDSL is DSL of ISDN technology, slower but works father from the phone CO (Central Office).

I believe SDSL and ADSL are symmetric and asymmetric respectively.

Around here ADSL is your usual 128kbps/384kbps (varies upon area). SDSL is like 1.5mbps/1.5mbps (varies upon area).

sdsl means upload and download are the same (more or less the same)

adsl means upload is SLOWER than download. Well, technically, one is lower than the other. but download is used more, thus more important for general users.

idsl, is what doug said, as far as i know.

dsl refers to the technology used. that is all.

anyway, speeds depend on provider. and is not related to anything *dsl.

BUT, there is a subset of ADSL called g.lite, which has been ratified, which limits speeds to 1 Mbps, and technology wise, allows easier and thus cheaper implementation of ADSL for providers...
