When did Anandtech start putting ads all over every single page of the forums? Wasn't the idea to keep the forums professional looking? I guess that's why we have flashing Creative and AMD banners. I'm so glad we also don't have subscriptions anymore to get rid of them, because I love being bombarded with a constant array of sh!t.


edit: also, GG on breaking your own tables in 1600x1200 by placing a giant ad on this page.
 
Yes the ads suck, so I am glad I have subscriber time left. WHY did they discontinue it? That is the one thing I can't understand.

You all three have hit that nail on the head. I was a subscriber until my sub ran out. 🙁

Wish they would have left the servers online.

The worst part about it is that the servers are still online. There are a few people who still have time left, some close to a year.

I think they should have extended all the subscriptions to a specific date and then killed the server all at once. It would have been the nice thing to do since the server has to run anyway and it wouldn't leave all the people who supported the community financially feeling so bitter toward AnandTech, but what do I know.

Well I understand the need for the ads and I used to click them fairly often until they started putting them on the side. The one on the left is completely pointless and serves no purpose by being placed there rather than up top or something.

It at least made sense when it was the Google ads because Google required them to be in a certain place but that argument is no longer valid. I'd love to see an official explanation of why the AT DealFinder Ad needs to be on the left.

Of course nobody around here feels that they should have to offer an explanation which is fine because I don't feel like have to click the ads anymore either.
 
I think people were complaining when there was nothing on the left hand side, so someone put something there. I was under the impression that the google ads were coming back.

If enough people werent clicking them (and supporting the forum) then they wouldnt be there. Thats my philosophy.

Depending on volume and how they sell it, they could very well be sell per 1000's of impressions of it in which case clicking on it wouldn't matter, but then again, they only buy space because people go to it.

Also, they should organize the ads a little better, the one on the left is useless, they could make it smaller and put it at the top for a better layout.
