Adobie Premire ?

I have windows Vista Ultimate 64bit installed. Photo shop works great but every time I try to use Premire it takes forever to load and then when it finaly dose it just hangs there when I try to import a video.
I have a core 2 duo 6600 OC @ 3.75ghz, 2 gigs of ram, a 7950 Gt KO and working the program off a 250gig sata2 hd.

Is this just because I am running it on vista or do I just need more ram?
If it is because of vista I will just get another copy of XP and wait for vista to mature>
 
If you haven't taken these steps already,

1) see if Adobe has an update to fix the problem

2) right-click a Premiere shortcut, choose Properties, and on the Compatibility tab, try WinXP mode.
 
Premire elements 3.0. Just tried runing it in XP mode. it launced faster but still just stayed in limbo after telling it to import. also I cant click in the box to name the video.
 
And as far as geting 2 gigs more of ram my wife would kill me lol, 1200 wnet into the pc i have now and that was hard to get her to think it was worth while. only reason i was abel to build one was because my old one died.
But 2 gig of ram was on my short list after I work the Overtime to repay what I spent on the PC. along with a external Hard drive for back ups , upgade my vide card with EVGA for a DX 10 one and a quad core when they come down in price like they are supose to.

LOL that is a lot of overtime i need to work.
 
As your next test, try

1) right-click the desktop and choose Personalize

2) go to Theme and set the Theme to Windows Classic. This should disable the AERO interface.


Now try again. IIRC the filmstrip display on Premiere Elements is hardware-accelerated, so disabling AERO may help. If you still can't import video, try setting Premiere Elements to use GDI for the filmstrip display (you will have to hunt for this setting, I don't have PE anymore to tell you precisely where it's located).
 
Ok will try that too , I like Vista for the most part. Having to use a USB head set for sound sucks but I no thinngs will get better as time goes on.
Looking forward to a sound card that will do surond sound in vista.
 
ACK it Still Hnags up. This is my first time using anything from adobie. I guess I can just use the video progam included in Vista, hate to though. I spent good money on Adobie elements, and heard so much good things about it.
 
Just a Note to anyone that plans to run Vista 64bit and wants to run this program also.

It wont work!

they have some issues with vista 32bit but think it works alrigt, but call and got no answer as to when it will work on the 64bit version.

This is one of 2 problems I have so far with Vista 64bit. Othere problem is onboard sound with a Logetec Z5500 speaker system, I cant even get stereo to work with the latest driver's for Gigabite for there DS3 borad
 
You could do what I did, which is to give away your Premiere Elements 3.0 to a WinXP user 🙂 I see Adobe has an update on their website for PE 4.0 to make it Vista-compatible, if you like the program enough to get the latest version of it.
 
When you say import, what do you mean? Are you doing a firewire import from a deck or camera? Are you trying to import another video format? If it is another video, you could be missing a codec. If it is firewire, make sure you have a functioning firewire connection and the camera is on and seen by Vista.

Another thought, you don't have a sound card? Check the requirements for Premiere. Firewire imports need to go through the audio processor. If you are doing audio through software or a low-end chipset, that could halt a startup. I suspect your motherboard has a sufficient one for Premiere, so verify that you have all the devices functioning properly.

You keep typing Adobie, tough question, is this a legit copy? Adobe is the company. If it is not a boxed copy, then all bets are off.
