Adobe Reader 6 read out loud works on some pdfs, but not on my ebook.

I have Lord of the Rings on my computer but the Read Out Loud feature is grayed out. I open a manual from rise of nations and it can read out loud fine.

Any reasons it might be grayed out? I cannot figure anything out.

Now I noticed in properties it is PDF version 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x)
I think this might be why it won't work, but now I need to figure out how to convert it to version Acrobat 6.x...

I have full Acrobat 6 Standard - and I have never tried to get it to read anything out loud. The thought turns me off. But - I know of no way to convert an Acrobat 4 file to 6. 6 will read 4 files, but unless the voice data is embedded, it won't read out loud. The only way I know of would be to get the original source material and create a new file with Acrobat 6.
