Alright.. I've got adobe premiere and an ads technology PYRO 1394DV firewire card, camera is Canon GL1.... My problem is when running adobe premiere, I can capture video one time or twice at max.. Here's what happens.. I play video off my camera, capture a section, save it, then continue the video, capture the next segment, name it/save it, and when i try to play it again, all i get is a blank screen.. now the camera, on its lcd is playing, and the time is running.. but on my comp, all i got was a black screen, and the time jumping on it.. and when i press stop or pause or rewind or anything, it is very slow to respond... even on the camera.... the only way for me to get it capturing again is to shut windows down and restart it.....anybody know what kind of problem this could be..?? I've downloaded all the latest drivers for the firewire card and updates for adobe premiere and microsoft dv drivers.... i dont know what else it could be...

heres my setup..
OS, win2k, sp2
CPU, 1.4GHZ TBIRD
MOBO, ECS K7S5A
VID CARD, ATI RADEON VE, Dual Display
RAM, 256MB....(2) 128MB sticks...

what version are you running? i assume it is 6.0 since this is the only premier that supports the TI chipsets found in cheaper firewire cards (i have no idea why adobe feels compelled to keep out the little people 🙁 ), but anyway, I have had some trouble as well with these types of firewire cards and premier. Sometimes the system will just freeze or kick out of the program. What OS are you running? The capture in premier seems shady at best for our kind (with cheap firewire). I would be interested to see how it works with something from matrox or canopus. Sorry I have no good solution, but I would recommend checking the adobe forums as people are always discussing these kinds of problems. Good luck

so you think it may be a problem w/ the firewire card?? btw, Im running WIN2K SP2.. thanks for the help.. could you direct me to the adobe forums please, or are they at adobe's webpage? Thanks for the help..

yeah, the forums are at the adobe site, just go here. Then go to the premier section for windows. I am going to try to figure mine out more while i am on break and have time... i will let you know if i figure anything out. talk to ya later

edit: i do have a feeling it is adobe's fault of not having full compatibility or something like this. i asked about the operating system because it seems odd that the system would downright crash... usually win2k handles traps well and will just close the program.

You don't mention what OS you're running, I'm not sure it's significant. Anyway, Make sure you're up-to-date on the DirectX version, and have applied the Microsoft patch for DV (found on the same page with the DirectX updates). Next make sure you're up-to-version (6.01) with the update from the Adobe site.

Next make sure you're up-to-date with your video drivers.

After that, you should be good to go.

FWIW

thanks scott.. already mentioned im running OS win2k twice.... anyways, im already updated on directX, microsoft patch for DV, 6.01 for adobe premiere, and video drivers... all updated when problem first occured.. still didnt fix it.. thanks anyways though....

gregulator, win2k does not crash when the problem occurs... just adobe premiere doesnt run as it should.. if i close it everything else still works fine.. I just have to shutdown and restart if i want to capture video again.... which sucks anyways, but its not as bad as crashing the whole system.... thanks for the help though, and ill check out the adobe forums for more help.. if i figure anything out ill let ya know...
