Adobe performance on Macs

I DO NOT want this to turn into another Mac vs. PC debate. I was just wondering if anyone knew for sure if Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects are SMP enabled. I ask because of this Inquirer article which links to somewhere on Ace's Hardware forum which links to this Adobe article (phew), which says that the Mac gets smoked by the P4. I already knew Macs don't hold a candle to P4s in performance in even graphics programs, where people swear by them. However, there is a girl here that I work with that is a huge Mac fanatic and she wanted to know if those programs were SMP enabled or not.

Also, if anyone else has any more links to Macs getting smoked by x86 procs, please post them as well. It's always fun proving that I'm right. :D

Someone pointed this out in another forum, and it makes sense: Adobe might just be getting scared. Apple is starting to muscle in on some of Adobe's buisnesses through the iApps, iMovie(Premiere) and iPhoto(photo management) specificially. This might very well be Adobe retaliating and trying to keep Apple "in its place."

I heard somewhere that Photoshop is in fact SMP enabled. Don't quote me on that. :)

Whoever created those comparison graphs on the Adobe page is a moron. The scale is decimal while the bars are time based creating an inaccurate visual comparison. This is most apparent in the first graph comparing video composite. The Mac scores 1 minute 25 seconds and comes in at 1.25 on the scale, while the P4 scores 54 seconds and is at .54 on the scale. Based on the 60 seconds per minute time scale I was taught how does any system score between .61 and .99 on that graph? The problem that this creates is that the Mac system should be at .85 on the graph not 1.25 making the Mac look even slower than it really is. I find it very sad that this is being reported on multiple sites including Adobe itself, and no one seems to have caught the error. The difference between 57% slower and 131% slower is pretty significant.

Heh, that graph is pretty funny. But regardless of the misinformation it provides, the P4 does smack the Mac around.

Wow, that is interesting. What a "creative" way to display the results. Clearly wrong and misleading, but not so wrong that the methodology couldn't be (weakly) defended by a zealot.

Were you calling me a zealot?
