Adobe GoLive 5.0 vs Dreamweaver 4 - Which is better?

I have done the same thing. Since it was for the company I had them buy the entire Adobe 5.0 and now the 6.0 line.
We do not need to use many other programs to complete any of our taskers.

I haven't used GoLive 5, but I've used 4.0. Even so, I like DW more. AFAIK both Adobe and Macromedia have trials you can try them out with and see which one you like better (I'm not completely sure that Adobe does though).

Dreamweaver is an awesome editor. I only does html and javascript. I doesnt do a bunch of crap that funks with all the rest of your site.
Front page is for loosers and Fools.
As for Golive I installed it once for a couple of days and thought it was cool but not worth the hassle of learning a new editor..
Bottom Line is my vote would be for Dreamweaver

I also started out with MS Frontpage but found I spent so much time cleaning up the code in notepad, I may as well hand-code.

I would suggest Dreamweaver. It seems to create cleaner HTML, lets you view code and design simultaneously, debugs Javascript, and includes O'Reily reference. You can also buy a couple bundles from Macromedia: Dreamweaver + Fireworks (image editor which does image rollovers/popup menus) $150 and Dreamweaver + Fireworks + Flash! + Freehand (like Illustrator) $250. Now if you already own Photoshop/ImageReady and are familiar with the "Adobe interface," Go Live could be a better option for you. I just found Dreamweaver easier to learn and use.

I learned DW4 and GoLive5 at the same time and I prefer DW. The Go Live interface is overly complicated and not as user friendly as teh DW4 interface, IMO. And I'm coming from a Photoshop and After Effects background so I'm used to Adobe interfaces.
