Thanks!...

Btw do people still use Java 7?..I'm using Java 8 update 5.

not me, the moment Java 8 was released I ditched Java 7 completely and have been updating 8 since then only.

People only need to use Java 7 if and only if they have some program that explicitly works on that particular version of older Java. Otherwise stick to the latest.

Apparently Java 8 does not work with Windows XP .. personally this is a jack ass move on the part of Sun / Oracle as there are many computers that still need or want to use XP

All my Windows computers use Win8.1,I do have a few Linux distros as well.

Main reason for my upgrade from 7 to Java 8 is the improved security it has.

I don't blame sun for not supporting XP. I hope every single company does the same to get rid of that old ghost

Is Java 8 update 5 safe to use ?

Yep ,have it on all my PCs,

Java 8 is a revolutionary release of the world’s #1 development platform. It includes a huge upgrade to the Java programming model and a coordinated evolution of the JVM, Java language, and libraries. Java 8 includes features for productivity, ease of use, improved polyglot programming, security and improved performance. Welcome to the latest iteration of the largest, open, standards-based, community-driven platform.

Ehh.. i don't even bother with java anymore unless it is needed and even then i disable the browser plugin unless it is required

the only way java its safe on home computers its when its not installed.

Best advice its getting rid of it.
