I applied to go to school at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, fall 2001 semester, in the middle of may. I got an acceptance letter and everything, but I got this bombshell in the mail today:

Dear Randal:

Thank you for your interest in the University of Colorado. It has come to our attention that your application to UCCS for the fall semester 2001 has been submitted after the prime submission date, and as such, has been subject to careful scrutiny. Unfortunately, the Admissions Advisory Board has reviewed your application, and, in light of the enrollment surplus and particularly of your record of academic achievement, has decided to remit your admission to the University of Colorado for the fall semester 2001.

You may re-apply to UCCS for any later semester. The prime application date for the Spring semester 2002 is September 7th, 2001 until September 31st, 2001. It is highly recommended that you complete additional transferable college level courses from a regionally accredited college or university before re-applying. Your acceptance would be governed by admission requirements in effect at the time of application.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused for both your educational goals and your scheduling. Should you desire to discuss this matter in detail, please feel free to contact me. Good luck in your future educational endeavors.

I am aghast. This means that I have no college until at *least* spring, possibly next year! What am I going to do? this really sucks nuts. grrrr (*!^!(*#&^!_@()#^)_@(1)!*%09876(@&^$@#^&@# vent vent vent vent vent vent

Try to appeal!

By the way, very nice, modern campus you've got there. I was there for nationals for Science Olympiad in May. Btw, sweet dorms too!

Sorry to hear about that though, that really sucks. :(

join a community college until then..

That's actually a good idea if your not in college until Spring.. You might as well earn credits while you're waiting.

no once they accept you they cannot recant. This happened to a girl who applied to some UC school. She had a pretty common name and her first name middle initial and last name (not good scores or grades) were the same as another who had excellent scores. Well it turns out they accidently admitted the dumb and they can't withdraw it. Talk to them or get a lawyer. If it was an official acceptance then you should be in the school. Sorry to hear about your troubles hope you work it out. :)

Actually they can. Knew a girl that was accepted to UCLA then later denied due to poor academic performance during second semester of senior year. Kinda sucks but it happens.

Go to community college and get some credit if that's what you want to do. Or you could just take a break from it all. Once you're in college you won't have another opportunity like this until you graduate.

the only good thing I can think about this is that now I can bust my a$$ 100 hours a week making truck loads of money. Which I hope to spend on college tuition somewhere down the road. also thinking about firing up http://www.randominc.com, but that doesn't seem as prosperous as it could be.

very down right now

Yeah, I think UC's require everyone to get at least a b- in all their classes or their acceptance would be taken away. Damn, that must suck. A cc sounds like a good idea tho.

see, the whack part is that I've already been to college -- I graduated from high school w/ an IB diploma [means I'm hot stuff] and a 4.2 gpa. Went to Boulder, and spent a semester there, and working / other distractions completely blew it. I pulled a 2.8 that semester, and then I said "man, can't do that" so I decided to cut my losses and take the spring semester off. Then I applied to uccs for the fall 2001 semester, and all I can think of is that because they are "over enrolled" my 2.8 didn't cut the mustard.

very grrr

there are two CU schools -- CU Boulder, and CU Springs. I attended CU Boulder for a semester and had mediocre performance. Applied to CU Springs [it's much cheaper], got accepted, then rejected.

what to do. [sigh]

But there was an agreement that she understood and that they told her.

This however was not.

with a ucla acceptance letter is an agreement that you are to sign stating that if you do not maintain around a 3.00 methinks they can recant your admission because you are not maintaining the same high academic standard.

Actually, I think there are at least three. Have you though of applying to CU Denver? What about asking Boulder if they will let you back in. Did you fully withdraw or were you on temporary leave?

I was on temporary leave so that no interest built up on my stafford loans. I had considered applying to CU Boulder & CU Denver, but had decided on the springs. I would apply to the other two, but application deadlines have already passed for both.

creek. no paddle.
