Is their a way to get around the password. I am supplied a laptop for work and I'm always running into the Adminstrator's password keeping me from changing hardware settings while I'm traveling. (My IR department isn't perfect, so I need to occasionally make changes.)

If the laptop is owned by the company, they are also maintaining the PC. Unless they give you the password AND give you the right to change settings, you have no right to make system changes. The bottom line is, it's up to them.

Windows 2000 is designed and engineered to be reliable. However, abusing your "administrator" privileges can cause it to be unreliable (if one is not a Win2K nerd) :)

Mind you, I am not questioning your ability

Tell them you want to be added to the local administrator group OR ask them to create a local account for you and put that in the local admin group.
