Administrative Assistants: Useless? (Rant)

Well our administrative assistant (secretary in an earlier less PC-age) is either clueless, on drugs or clueless and on drugs. She can't even do the simplest tasks without help and it's easier to do the work ourselves. I have to follow up on her like she is a child. For example, if she doesn't get a hold of someone on the first try, that's it. Story over. She doesn't keep on trying. She doesn't know the number to purchasing just that she presses the little button "1" and it connects. She asks me about email that she never forwarded and basically expects us to do her job. AHHHHHHHHHHHH.......

She is most definitely not hot. There have been a constant stream of these incompetents and we are trying to decide if we are better off without one.

We've got a couple administrative assistants who have the hardest time with anything ... at least they're nice

well... fire her. and get yourself a new one.
but don't bust on all aa's. some of them are nice. like the one in my office.

We went through a temp agency to find "the one". One week we must have had a new "temp" in every day. I think we went through at least 15 different temp AA's before we found one that was competent.

You could look into a service like that. Sort of a "try it before you buy it" deal
