Admin Account

I added a new account to my administrator account. Now it doesn't show up on the login window. Why don't I see it? I also added my name to it. I also checked something along the lines of not allowing anyone else access to my files. Now all my passwords and serial numbers and registrations don't work. Is there a way to get my settings back? I am down until I figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob Snow

If you had been using the "true" Administrator account, then it will vanish from the Welcome screen as soon as you create another Admin-class account, because it isn't supposed to be showing in the first place. If you want to get it back, the AddAdministrator registry patch will do it. I don't have time to find it for you this morning, but someone can help you with this.

You can also hit ctrl-alt-del twice IIRC and you'll get a classic logon screen where you can enter the username.

What do you mean by IIRC? I couldn't seem to get that to work for me. But I will give it another try.

Is there an easy way to duplicate the true admin account to another account so that it could basically be a mirror of it and then from there I can take out what I want, rather that start from scratch and build an account up.

If I Recall Correctly, which apparently I don't 😛

Ah, apparently that trick only works on XP Pro, not Home. I'm guessing you have the latter...?
