I am having great difficulty finding employment. I already have two BAs, but I am only 17 credits from a third in Psychology. Should I finish an additional degree?
 
I just noticed you're from Michigan. You should move. I keep hearing this same sad story over and over again from people that live there.

Its not the state its getting a Bachelor of Arts. You either get a bachelor of arts if your going to grad school or if you like to learn, not to get a job. Im in Virginia and the best job I could find is doing data entry for a temp agency during the day and waiting tables at night.

It blows here. I applied to about fourteen places so far until I come along something that pays decent. I can't even get a call-back from a damn grocery store. Grrrr.... I am signed up with a temp service and have emailed my resume to two others. I will be working on cover letters tomorrow for a few entry-level state positions; I won't hold my breath.
 
No offense, but I'd wager a vast amount people would have trouble w/ a degree in Psychology.

You either find a job unrelated to that degree, or go all the way and start your own firm.

Well, I plan on applying (and attending) graduate school for a MFA in creative writing or a MA in English Literature. As for now, I need money.

Just wait tables or something, around 50% of the waiters/bartenders at the restaurant I work at have 4 year degrees lol
 
My sister recently graduated High school and she wanted to go into psychology. Psychology is one of those majors if you don't get your PHD in it than you should pursue other things. Since you already have your BA in Psych than I suggest you to finish your PHD if that is what interests you the most.

No, it's pretty much true.

They have BS's in 'liberal arts' fields, like Journalism.

BA's are ususally worth about the same as the paper they're printed on....
 
A BS implies science. How you can even get a BS in something like English, Journalism, or History is beyond me....

People get good jobs all the time with BA's. Just not in science.
 
I'm getting a BA in Computer Science over a BS. The only difference is 1 math class and 1 science class, and some other electives. 120 hours compared to 13X hours for the BS. Instead of taking the extra ~15 hours to get my BS, I'm just going to get my MS instead.

this is only half true. with a BA in psych you can only do social work. however, with a Masters of Social Work, you can get an LCSW license, which allows you to perform full-on psycho-therapy. you can't do testing or be a college professor, but other than that you're good to go, without the PhD. HMO's hire them like crazy. but as someone who recently graduated with a BA in psych, I gotta tell the OP: you're in for a world of hurt. i've been trying to get a decent job for months now. i've had some good interviews, but there are just too many good people for too few jobs. i'm about ready to go back to popping corks at the old winery i worked at. it would be ok except you NEED social work or equivilent experience to get into grad school for your MSW or PhD in psych. so you've got to find the "right" job, or you're just treading water toward your real goal. 🙁
