I have my pc hooked up to my TV to game on. I'd like the ability to record, OTA, HD.
The case is packed so I'd rather use USB (3.0) if possible. I also want to be able to set recordings to start by themselves like a DVR.
What do I need?

i7
GTX 660 ti
16 GB RAM
Windows 8 (not 8.1) with Media Center

TIA

I have the HDHomeRUn Dual (2 tuners) - it is fantastic. All you need to do is plug in an antenna, plug the device into your router the use media center to record at any time or play. Media player can also be used for watching OTA.
the above linked model is supposed to be better optimized for OTA than my 2 year old model (cost ~$70)
Also they have a support forum that is fairly active and very informative.

Is there a way to get the signal to a non smart TV (in other rooms) that has HDMI? I was thinking Chromecast but I am not sure it's supported.

You can search up some windows media center extenders. I believe you can use an xbox as one but I don't know if its HDMI. im a playstation person:p.
I am thinking of buying the Ceton Echo. Its compatible with windows 7 MC and has HDMI. It doesn't have wifi though. that might be a problem. In that case I would recommend using Ethernet cables or buying a range extender.

Tried an experiment before buying the HomeRun.
Bought an HD antenna and a DISH Network MT2 Over the Air Module for my DVR.

Hooked it up and got six channels. Hooked the antenna directly to my TV and got 29 channels.

I want the DVR function so we'll see how many channels the HomeRun gets.
