Hello. I got a second hard drive and windows XP home does not recgonize it, it seems. I only see my C drive in control panel. I tried manually installing it by add remove hardware and that did not work. I also unplugged the new second drive, rebooted, shut down. Plugged the new one again, and restarted. No go.

System:
A64 3000+
Chaintech VNF3-250
Seagate IDE hard drive (this is the one I have now, windows XP home)
ATI AIW 9600xt
512 MB Corsair value select

On my system tray, there is a message telling me to safely remove hardware, but I want to add it.

Is there a problem having an IDE as the master, and a sata as a secondary storage drive?

I understand that Sata drives are jumperless. Is there a jumper on the master drive I must change?

Read the drive's documentation. I think you need to download a hitachi utility to get Windows to work with it.

Ah Ha. Sata drivers!!! Thanks, I bet that is the problem. Forgot about them. Thanks Viper96720

Edit. Rats. It seems that the nvidia drivers are all in one, and the sata drivers are included in the driver pack. More help?
