Adding RAID Drives to XP

I have XP Pro installed on a single WD Raptor. I now want to add 4 more drives in a RAID5 configuration to my system which is based on a ICHR10 chipset. The BIOS is configured, the RAID is configured, the raid volume appears in the device manager with no indication of any error. The Intel Storage Manager is also aware of it. But I don't see it in the XP disk manager and am not able to assign a drive letter ot it. Why? How is this supposed to work? Can anyone help?

Thanks,

I want to add that I'm not indending of moving the XP installation to the RAID volume. I only want to save non-OS files there. Just to make it a little clearer....
