adding raid array to windows after install

so, let's say I have XP on a single 300gb sata drive. If after the install, I set up a raid array with 2 other disks, will XP recognize the drives? (assume that when I installed windows bios was set to raid and windows was installed with the raid drivers).

It's easy to add a data-only RAID array. As long as the array is set up in the BIOS (either the motherboard BIOS or in a separate RAID card BIOS) you just add the drivers for the RAID controller to Windows. This can be done from inside Windows, making it unnecessary to have a floppy drive.

perfect...but when I set up windows, I should have the sata controller in the bios set to either ahci or raid right? (as opposed to ide?)

Do you have your single SATA drive attached to the RAID controller? If so, that's outside my experience range.

To get some help, you might want to mention the motherboard model, where your current hard drive is attached, and what, if any, drivers you are currently using for your hard drive controller.

All drives are connected to the mobo chipset, which is an EVGA x58 w/Intel 10R southbridge. The sata drive I'm using for XP is a 300gb sata 1. Then, I have 2 WD 1TB black drives which will be set up in raid 1 for data (connected to mobo), and 2 WD 74gb raptors in raid 0 for Windows 7 (prob using rc1 once it's out), and would be using win 7 as my primary OS, with all data stored on the raid 1 array.
