Adding programs to startup

I want SpeedFan to open on startup but it doesn't seem to have that option in its configuration, so I added its icon to the Startup folder. However, this adds two items to startup in msconfig, one listed as Startup and the other listed as Common Startup, and yes, the program actually opens two instances of itself. Any way to prevent this?

Have you tried disabling one of them through msconfig?
Oh yeah, guess I should've mentioned that. Yes, if you uncheck one, then close and reopen msconfig, both are removed from the list, so it won't open on startup at all.

Delete it from one of the startup folders.
There is only one. There are only two Startup folders, one in Administrator and one in All Users, and the shortcut for it is only in the All Users one.

So...anyone else ever experience this?

I have nothing in the start menu folder for my username, and everything in the start menu folder for All Users. Is that a problem? The shorcut is ONLY in the Startup folder under All Users but it still adds "Common Startup" and "Startup."

Yes I have do this all of the time. There are two ways of doing it:

  1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
and add a shortcut to this folder.
  2. Or the other method is to edit the registry, but that is much more complacated and I will not explain it.
