Got a question for you people.

I just installed a new hd in my computer. Maxtor 120GB. Installed XP pro, which found and partitioned the hd the way I wanted. I have two other hd in the pc which where partitioned with the previous installation of XP pro. The new install won't mount the two old partition.

Please any suggestions?

Thanks veitofmars

Yes, they are seen in the bios. one is on a promise controller. WinXP also has them under the Administration tool.
If I right click on the drive opinion are 1. convert to dynamic drive. 2. delete partition. 3. Help

I just want to safe the data on those drives with very little trouble.
I've tried MBRtools, Recovery tools on the XP installation disk. (chdsk /r).

MBRtools wanted to repartition the drives. chkdsk /r said the drives are fine.

Any suggestions??

Thanks.

Any more suggestion?

Well here is what I'm going to try.
Boot off the old installation of Winxp, recover the partitions on the drives.
change the drives around again.
reboot off the with the MAxtor Utils CD (Do I have to?) and use their copy utilities to copy the data to a new partition.

Well So far I have the old xin xp running. But lost the partition on my second HD.
Will try a dynamic disk conversion.

I have tried the recovery tools on the Win XP install discs. A big no-go.
I have tried Acronis recovery expert deluxe. That was big no-go. That said it didn't support dynamic disk. I haven't down any dynamic disk conversions yet. But I will now.

Wish me luck.

Well I converted the drives to dynamic instead of basic. Found the first partions on each drive.
Now lets find the second partition on the old first drive.
