Adding memory - question

Hey everyone,

I've got a quick question about adding memory to my system. I currently have a single stick of Samsung 512mb PC2700 (K4H560838-TCB3) RAM in my system right now and would like to double this to a Gig. However, I am unable to find another stick of this RAM to add and am wondering how strict I should be in finding a pairing for the current stick I have. Should I only add another Samsung stick or can I get by with adding a stick of 512 from Crucial or Corsair, etc? Thanks for the help!

Hello,

You can use any other manufacturers memory in the system and it should work fine. I say should because some types of memory will just not work. Alot of times it is hard to tell until you buy it. Main things to look for when buying more memory from someone else.

Speed
ECC or non-ECC
density-IE. doublesided or single sided memory.

One of our modules will work fine. We are compatible with almost everybody and have had no trouble with Samsungs.

It had better as I've built 2 machines with Crucial stickered modules that are Samsung chipped. 🙂

Does anyone know if the Kingston PC2700 RAM will work ok with the Samsung??

Kingston RAM here

the Kingston will be most likely fine..I even have a Corsair module of ddr333 that's TCB3 chipped.

Bleh.... the Kingston RAM isnt working... I get a memory dump error while Windoze is loading. I tried it in conjunction with my Samsung as well as on it's own... same stuff - errors. Gonna send this back and look to find a matched TCB3 chip of 512Mb somewhere - any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the reminder, I meant to check Ebay before now but just now did so. Here is my next question - The following is in reference to Samsung True PC2700 sticks of RAM:

512Mb stick I currently have in my system = M368L6423DTL-CB3

512Mb stick I am looking to purchase = M368L6423DTM-CB3

Any reason to think that these 2 sticks would not work together? Thanks!
