I want to add a headphone jack to the front of my case. I use them a lot, and hate to have to reach behind the computer all the time to unplug them so my girl don't crank it up and blow em. Any ideas on how to do this? What should be on my shopping list? Oh yeah, my soundcard is a Soundblaster Live Value. Thanks in advance.

This is an option you could look at.
Front X
Fits into your 5.25" Drive Bay and you can add extra stuff.

I'll be getting me one of these as well.
I too would like a headphone socket at the front of my case.:)

This will be sweet for USB Stuff...

Looks kinda cool, but I would rather build it myself. I'm sure I can pick up the pieces at my local radio shack. USB in the front? Nah, just the headphones. I don't want a lot of stuff cluttering up the front. Thanks for the link though.

I'll 2nd the frontx, used to have one and I only got rid of it cause I had a live drive, not sure how you would go about building one, well I am but it would seem worth the money just to buy one vs the hassle of building it but many people find that to be most of the fun.

I have a seperate volume control for the speakers, can just turn them off when I am using the headphones. Plus, there are two seperate jacks [front and rear] on the SBLive Value. Lucky me :) Thanks bacon, linkified, I'll check it out.

>edit Although that is for inputs, I think I can get it to work for outputs edit<

i'm building a switchbox to switch between speakers and headphones. I'm planning on making it a digital switch mechanism. I'll let you know when i finish the schematic.

If anybody wants to build it. this place has the RCA board (6 inputs!) for only .69. They also have the RCA cables very cheap. I went there to get the fanorama ( 4 fans for $1 !) and ended of buying a lot of cool stuff. A must see place if you are a DIY man.
item numbers:
RCA connector block AUD1039 0.69ea
cables CAB2022 0.99 EA
fanorama! FAN1036 $1

Brainiac2000: lmk when you get done w/ that, i was planning the same.. a very crude switchbox i would have made, but dunno how to go about doing a digital one.

and as for the front/rear outputs of a soundcard, rear is always too weak :(
