We have a 2001 (?) Gateway Desktop that I would like to add a fan to. It has a open spot on the back of the case.

Where would I get power from?

Coming off the PSU there is a 4 wire P2, P3 and P4, P4 running the harddrive, 2 and 3 are open. There is a three wire feeding the fan on the processor, but there is no way to add a fan to there (no open connections to bridge off of).

1) Where would I plug in a fan?

2) What size fan would fit in the opening?

Okay, I've done a little more research.

I see on newegg.com that they have 4 pin fans. So can I just plug the fan into one of the open PSU points (P2 or P3)?

Also, how can I figure out the size of fan that can fit the rear of my case?

i would bet it is a 80mm, but you will probably want to measure the hole to be sure.

Just remembered that I had a ruler w/ some stuff I bought for work. Yep 80mm.

Now, can I just plug a fan into one of the open PSU connectors as mentioned above?
