Adding another stick of RAM for Dual Channel?

EDIT: poked around and found a thread that pretty much answered my question.

It currently has one stick of 512MB DDR2 533. I can buy another stick for $24+shipping but I've never tried running dual channel RAM with two different sticks before. Would it be better just to pay $44 for two new sticks of 512 or save the $20?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

PS: If I bought a 1GB kit of RAM they would be 667 instead of 553. Compatible with the motherboard but the FSB on the processor is only 553 so I don't know how beneficial the faster RAM would be.

I doubt you'd notice a difference with the faster RAM, especially with a slower FSB processor. The faster RAM also has a higher CAS latency, so the effects of it being faster frequency are somewhat negated by the higher latency.
