Adding a Vista computer to a network

I have 2 XP Pro SP2 computers networked. Both link to a DSL modem via a Zonet broadband router/print server. This arrangement has worked fine for several years. My wife wanted to connect her laptop to the internet with a port in the den. So I put in a Trendnet switch in the basement by cutting the Cat 5 to her desktop computer in her office area and running new Cat 5 over to the den. My computer is in my office up stairs. Both XP computers work fine. However I cannot get the Vista to find the internet through the Trendnet. I have switched cables etc. If I plug in the Vista directly to the DSL modem, no problem. Today I took the laptop upstairs and plugged it into the Zonet router and got a connection so it seems I have the software settings right. But I still can't get the Vista to get to the internet in the den even when my wifes XP desktop is plugged into and getting on line through the Trendnet switch.
What am I missing?

Having a hard time following your network. Have you tried a XP box using the new trendnet? Have you tried the Vista PC on the zonet (rather than directly on the DSL modem).

So I get this right you have DSL Modem -> Zonet Router(with 2 XP PCs) -> Trendnet switch -> wifes PC.

As stated in my post my wifes XP computer works fine off the Trendnet switch. It was DSL Modem->Zonet switch -> 2 XP computer.
Now DSL -> Zonet Router-> my XP Computer and to Trendnet switch branched to 1 XP (wifes desktop works) and to DenVista laptop(doesn't work)
Vista laptop works when plugged into both DSL Modem and Trendnet router. Have done the repair utility. Tried signing off wife's desktop from internet and den Vista still doesn't work. I will post ipconfig later. Don't have time to get that info right now.

As stated above you are not being very clear. So what is a router and what is a switch?

Did you mean the Zonet? I believe you must because you are saying its not working then saying it is.

When posting the IP info it would be helpful if you posted the IPCONFIG results from all 3 PCs.
