Adding a switch

Right now my network looks like this:

Cable modem ---> Router ---> WAP and wired computers.

However, now I have a few more PCs to add and need to install a switch. So I have the uplink port on my router and an uplink port on the switch. Do I just connect these two with a straight through cable?

Uplink refers to the direction of the travel to the core. Hook the uplink port of the switch to any regular port on the core switch or router, using a regular cable. If it is a shared uplink/regular port, do not use the adjacent regular port.
In other words, if it an 8 port switch with 9 rj45 jacks, use the uplink and the other 7 away from that end, for a total of 8 connections.

Just as skyking already said. And yes, I do the same thing at my house.. albeit with a few switches in the mix as opposed to just one. 😀
