Adding 1GB of ram

I've got 1 system with a amd venice running at 2.4ghz paired with a 7600gs, nothing fancy, but it hasn't let me down much in most games, with my 1024*768 capable monitor the gpu can keep up most of the time.

But, now I'm going to buy vista home premium, oem version, for particular reason I won't get into. And I've only got 1gb of ddr 400. Should I add another 1024mb ram, for roughly 60 euro's, or shouldn't I ? I'm most likely going to upgrade at the end of the year, in let's say 6-8 months.

Will I need the extra ram in Vista for playing halo 2/shadowrun ? Will I notice a nice performance overall in XP and other games ? Oh, and, any ideas on wether it will mess up my OC ? Running a asus a8n5x mobo btw.

Yeah, go for it. That's not a cripplingly bad price, given that it's DDR1 and europe prices. You'll enjoy the extra RAM in Vista, and a lot of games.

For your box, 2GB is a must. Do it without hesitation.

Hmz, okay I guess those positive comments will do, 2gb here I come then ^^ Oh, and I've found a way to scrape some money of the allready relatively cheap memory, I can buy it w/o taxes. Saves me some money hehe.

2G is minimum requirement for Vista to run reasonably.

I would stick with xp though. I don't think there is any reason to run vista over xp.

probably, since i don't think you'll be upgrading that system for ddr2 that quick.
is tax raising the price of the ram?
