Adding 1GB (for total of 1GB) - What are the +s and -s?

If I'm watching over-the-internet streaming video, surfing the web, running a anti-virus program, and recording a TV show (with MCE) at the same time is 1 GB of memory sufficient? If I were to add another 1 GB memory what advantages and disadvantages will I experience? Is this recommended? Will 4 sticks of memory function as dual channel?

4 sticks will work in dual-channel, but @2T. Stay with what you have.
