Anyone else here like to secure their systems for fun and as a hobby ? I love trying new virus scanners and malware scanner comparing them. Can't explain how it is enjoyable guess it is just habit. If I didn't want to do it I wouldn't. It is not just security software though it is all software. How do you stop this habit ?

Drives me crazy sometimes because I am such a perfectionist.
 
I think if you start doing it for a living your urges will gradually subside because then you have an actual "release" and a point of focus, that point of focus being your job duties.
 
I have been installing virus laden software on purpose for years. I like to take it apart and see what tactics programmers have come up with. Often it is pretty routine stuff with people using virus generation software where they just fill in the blanks and click a few buttons. But occasionally I run across some real gems where the programmer created the entire thing from scratch, those are the ones that make it worth doing.
