Adderall..... When studying no matter what my mind wanders

Ill be sitting there studying, and suddenly bam, i notice that no matter what im thinking about anything else. i could have JUST sat down, or been studying for like an hour. and it happens. does anyone else do this? i have slowly taught myself to catch myself, but im talking every 10 minutes.

and does anyone on here take it? if so is it effective?

You have ADD.

does the fact that during class i have to fiddle with something at all times possible. normally pen, or something also contribute to this?

im 18 btw.

i got the same problem too, so lmk what works for you.

Edit: I've noticed that it's easier for me to study if it's been ~45 minutes since I ate. I think metabolism is at work somehow.

If you take Adderol and it doesn't help you, then you don't have "real" ADD. There's a difference between a dopamine imbalance and simply not being able to concentrate.

ive never taken it.

I basically can't read a page in a book without my mind wandering (I may have to read a page in a book at least 8 times before I fully know everything that occured on that page). I've never taken it and have still managed to get decent grades but it's been tough. Keep on trying your best your best, because I personally can't stand it anymore and will be seeing a doctor over the winter break.

i lose focus very easily when studying. but it's only w/ studying, nothing else really.... probably because most of what I'm studying is uninteresting and boring.

lol, dont' use drugs. Learn better focusing techniques. Getting those is much better for you than drugs.

Sure it is, but if you're cabable of learing those techniques you probably dont have ADD.

tough it out, don't become a speed head.

Sure, great tell the kid to ignore an issue that could plunge his life in to self destruction... He has classic symptoms and would probably really benefit from the drug. Speed heads are the ones that don't actually have a problem.

Certain foods and especially cafine have been known to reduce the symptoms of ADD/ADHD

Correctamundo! People who take it during finals dont have the problem that I and a lot of others do and only help to perpetuate the stigma against us.

Same here, I can barely get through a paragraph of technical data with out closing my eyes and starting over again... Good for you for finally seeing a doctor about it, if you really have ADD it will help immensly. Don't let a$$holes make you feel bad about it either, if they give you crap about it then they probably have a lot worse things they are hiding or are just bad/stupid people.
